The majority of us can argue-some convincingly, some haphazardly, but nevertheless the majority of people won't give in to an argument. But understand this-words are a dime a dozen.Everyone knows that in the argument,we will, with an air of professionalism and deep intellectualism, quote almost anything to support our views. We will start quoting the Bible,Quran,Lord Hare Krishna,Bill Gates,Gandhi or Mandela.Others will quote unverifiable scientific data.Whoever can be persuaded by windbag arguments like these? The problem in trying to prove a point in an arguement is that you are never sure of the effects your words have on others.Outwardly they may agree, but inwardly they may silently resent our shallow and stupid opinions. And maybe even hate our narrow mindedness.Or we may say something, but the other perceives that we are saying this against them- since words can be interpreted according to ones moods and insecurites. In situations of any argument, the best approach is keep our gaps tightly closed and try to extinguish the unpleasant exchanges taking place.
As Baltasar Gracian once remarked-" The truth is generally seen, not heard."
"I have learned, that if one advances confidently in the directionof his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined,he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours." - Henry David Thoreau
