Astorre Manfredi was a very handsome prince in in the province of Faenza, Italy. Not only that, he was a very friendly prince, given to generosity and had outstanding natural charm. In all that province,Manfredi was simply adored and loved.
However in the year 1500, Faenza was invaded by a Cesare Borgia. In those days the invaders would put all the top citizens to death, but Borgia did not resort to such terror. He did not execute anyone in Faenza.Manfredi was only 18 at that time. Borgia allowed Manfredi access to the courts and gave him complete freedom.
But a few weeks later Manfredi was hauled away to a Roman dungeon on some obscure chages. Some time later, his body was fished out of the River Tiber with a huge stone tied around his neck. The adorable Manfredi died a horrible death, like a common criminal, at the hands of Borgia. Many fair maidens of Faenza sobbed uncontrollably when his corpse was brought to town.
NOW LET US EXAMINE AND INTERPRET THE SITUATION.
The truth surfaced later- Borgia was a man who was notoriously vain and insecure. He was a ladies man and loved to court beautiful women. But in the company of Manfredi, he was no match for the charming and pleasant disposition of the handsome young prince. In contrast, Borgia resembled a crude unrefined countryman of peasant origins wearing a battlesword whereever he went. The beautiful ladies of the Court secretly cast their eyes only on Manfredi and were not drawn to Borgia as they did to Manfredi. The mere presence of Manfredi made Borgia less attractive and in contrast displayed him like a country brute.
There is a profound lesson here. If you cannot help being charming, diplomatic and confident for what you are, you must learn to avoid such monsters of vanity. These are beasts born in every generation and in every society who are afflicted with such dreadful diseases. No physician, psychiatrist or religion in the whole world can heal these Jackasses!! When in the company of a Borgia, its safer to tone down your talents and charm OR safer still- avoid this horrid Jackass completely. Heed this advice or pay the price.
"I have learned, that if one advances confidently in the directionof his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined,he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours." - Henry David Thoreau
