LAO FU TZE

The power of virture cannot be strived for, but emerges naturally.Lao Fu Tze 6.B.C.

Almost all the other Masters articulated it differently.Self disciplne,Self denial,Carrying the Cross,Striving to adhere to the Buddaha's Eight Fold Path, and fasting for 40 days during the Ramadhan season. But This Master arrived at a totally opposite view.Virtue cannot be strived for,in his view,it comes naturally. For some people, yes, virtues may emerge naturally, but I am afraid, for the majority of us,if we prepared to bare the soul, what comes naturally are only evil and foul passions. These dark passions are carefully concealed within the innermost chambers of the heart and generally, people carry these secrets until the end.But I believe that is the safest approach. Its part of us hidden away from the public scrutiny. And its seldom safe to open up.Open up and you will face the consequence the ass faced in the story- THE FAMINE & THE ASS.

ON INTEGRITY

After hearing that a man was called a "man of integrity" for being a witness in Court against his own father who stole a sheep, Confucious sighed deeply and said-"In my community, men of integrity are different. The father conceals for his son,and the son conceals for his father, and family members and relatives all conceal for each other-and from each other.Therein integrity is found"
Confucius 551 B.C.
