LESSONS FROM THE STARS

Once upon a  season, that relationship meant everything.It went deeper than friendship. Enjoying each others Company, committed to each other and  just being each others pillar of support. It was great. But then one day,the unthinkable happens- the skies turn bleak and the dark clouds appear. EXPIRY OF 2009

 No  doubt, the Pubs will be full again in a few days time, to usher in the New Year 2010. Many resolutions will be made- which will usually be broken in the following couple of weeks. Just like any other year, many people will look foward with many expectations, hopes and dreams.... only to be disappointed in a few months time.This is the mystery of life- some say land is a landmine, others say its a circus, party or just waiting for  our funeral. I think the best way to usher in the New year is to have an early dinner and to retire early back to our homes. Remember- if you are having a late supper with friends- avoid those who are drunk and talk endlesslessly. You really dont want to start the New Year  with your feelings ruffled. VJ

MERRY CHRISTMAS

  I SAW THE NEIGHBOURS WIFE SHOUTING AT HER TEENAGE CHILDREN- OVER SOME SHOPPING STUFF. THIS IS HOW SHE LOOKED LIKE. I WAS HOPING FOR A QUIET CHRISTMAS. i WALKED TO MY APARTMENT AND QUICKLY BOLTED THE DOOR.

This phrase is used for an expression of resignation. That no matter what a person does, it still does not work out. If you are good but the other person turns out to be a half baked Jackass!! You life runs smoothly, but the other person, for some unknown reason dies.The Malaysian scene is full of incidents like this- tragic road accidents ,victims of crime or sickness.He loves the person, but the other person behaves like "kera kena belacan" and divorces him!! DIVINE DECREE

NOBODY ASKED OUR CHOICE, AND WE WERE BORN IN THIS PART OF THE WORLD.SOME WERE HURLED INTO THE CITIES, OTHERS MADE THEIR APPEARANCE IN THE INTERIORS OF THE JUNGLE. IMAGINE BEING BORN INTO A NOMADIC TRIBE WITH ONLY A CLOTH TO  COVER YOURSELF, AND TAKING A BAMBOO IN YOUR HANDS TO HUNT MONKEY MEAT FOR BREAKFAST.IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE.IMAGINE BEING BORN AS A CHICKEN OR A COW AND LANDING ON SOMEBODY'S PLATE AS BEEF STEAK OR DEEP FRIED CHICKEN. THANK GOD FOR BEING BORN THE WAY YOU ARE.

At times, some days bruise us and we return home with  a  sigh.Its an even worse feeling when one is bruised by ones usual acquaintences.But all that matters is that the week is done and there is still breath in our souls. And the aggravations  that unhinge us mentally for a moment  do not and will not go away. They have a way of making their appearances again. And they usually appear from a source that we  were not expecting.But now I am with my self gain. Its only here that I have a sense of renewal  taking place somewhere within me.Because my Spirit is deeper  that the deepest ocean and its substance is timelessness.Within my souls breath, there are mysteries There are things there that I am not even aware of.  But my dearest friend , Mr. Solitude always and very gently nudges the buttons within me. I need this stillness. LOCALS SAY I MAY COME ACROSS BEARS BUT, NOT TO FEAR- THEY ARE HARMLESS AND WILL NOT ATTACK.I NEVER BELIEVED THEM.JUST IMAGINE, YOU WALKING ALL ALONE OUT THERE AND YOU FEEL A WARM BREATH BEHIND YOUR SHOULDERS- AND THIS UGLY BEAST IS SNIFFING AT YOU. MY STOREROOM

This is my storeroom in the basement. Since I did not want to pay income tax, I converted all my money into US Currency and placed it here. But then I began to feel a bit guilty. Because this is Christmas time- a season of giving- and I heard a little whisper in my heart to give half of this to the poor. Almost all babies are born cute and  charming but the passage of time and the harsh realities of life takes its toll.One does not have to walk very far in the city to come across some unpleasant faces.Its wiser to avoid them than to take the risk of  having your day ruined.What makes people rude and  unpleasant? I think the reason is - others have been rude and unpleasant to them. Those who are hurt usually end up by hurting others.At times you have to turn the other cheek but at other times- you have to hit back twice as hard-you must subtley convey the message that there are lines that cannot be crossed.       Vijay
