As a young boy I used to take the Ferry from Pulau Pinang to go to seberang Prai.But the ferries are recalled to their ports by the Harbour Master after running their routes. But  unfortunately,once our words are out, they cannot be recalled by any  authority in Heaven or  on Earth. And therein lies our helplessness and regrets.Words uttered are not like those written on the seashore, erased by the next incoming wave.They stay etched in the human memory for a lifetime- and maybe beyond that.Keep your words in- and you won't be spending a sleepless night!! TUNANGNYA

"BAIK TUNANGNYA JAHAT,

If he is good, his partner/spouse is bad,
if he lives, his partner/spouse dies,
He loves, but the spouse  divorces.

This phrase is used for an expression of resignation. That no matter what he does, it still does not work out. If you are good  but the other person turnes out to be a  Jackass!!  You live on , but the other person,  for some unknown reason dies.. The Malaysian scene is  full of incidents like this- tragic road accidents ,victims of crime or sickness.He loves the person, but the other person behaves like "kera kena belacan" and  divorces him!! Looks like fate is against this person. BAKAR HATI

"TERBAKAR KAMPUNG KELIHATAN ASAP,

This proverb is rather difficult to interpret because it is laced with innuendoes.This means the original meaning is hidden and only known to the speaker. But he let's the hearing crowd angle this proverb their own way.Only 2 words gives us a clue, smoke and flames.But the main difficulty in interpreting this saying is the word-" flames?"
What kind of flames is the writer  hinting at? Flames of love? Flames of hatred? Envy, jealousy or anger??? I really don't know. But the important point to note here  is that peoples faces usually don't  betray their hearts. Whatever is eating the human species away is carefully concealed and nobody knows about it!!So we can read about burning cities- but not about burning hearts!!!  Vijay- The Midnight Owl

I guess the song, "Torn between 2 lovers, feeling like a fool..."  summarizes the whole thing.No doubt, the above 3 verses speaks volumes by itself. Many,many books throughout the centuries been written about this sordid topic.In politics,sex scandal stories are what is quickly grabbed by the public.The Newspapers will sell like steaming hot cakes.A certain unfortunate Dr. from MCA is the latest example.Prima facie,the verses speak about infidelity. Indeed it is a grave misfortune,when the lady of the house  prefers the jungle than the home.Like the wife who was caught with  another man in a dimly lit hotel room by her own husband. Her statement to the police later??? They were just discussing business--- This is the first time I have heard of a business meeting held in a dark hotel room.

At one time Rafida Aziz and Datuk Anwar were close friends- it ended when Anwars fortune declined.So was Dr. Mahathir with Anwar and Ghafar Baba. So was Sharizat and Rafidah. Datuk Samy and Subra, at one time,  buddies, now sworn enemies."And the latest MCA,when Ong Tee Keat after being voted out declared
"I am very hurt!!" ( referring to his friends who let him down at the crucial moment). I hope you safeguard your friendships, for once lost- they can only be recovered at a superficial level. May you live well. Vijay

A person who is trouble and clumsy wherever he goes. Never mind if he is at the workplace or simply at home- his presence only brings or causes trouble by whichever means- conversation, conduct, work or worse- in social circles. If you run into such a person, definitely you are under some kind of curse.Ask God  to give you wisdom how to escape from this monkey.  May you live well.

NOT DESIRED

I think the meaning to be  inferred here is this- since we all know that water cannot be reduced to ashes ( I hope I am right)'If you desire to have me, then burn the water and bring the ashes .

This is probably a subtle rejection, though not said outrightly. Another probablity is that the person is so undesirable,probabaly less than handsome or beautiful, the usual  defects- a blank look, maybe skin like sandpaper, one eye big, the other small, or a  nose which faintly reminds one of a vultures beak. Like sending an axe to negotiate marriage arrangements, who ruins everything even before the  discussion has hardly begun.[usually by suggesting that the dowry is a bit too low] Similar to sending a  clumsy idiot with a capital "I" to handle a delicate matter. This is another classic Malay proverb which means-"It is as  though the moon  has fallen into ones lap" This is a figurative language describing the great fourtune which was totally unexpected  descending on oneself. An unimaginable stroke of good luck.

Deepavali Question- Smile Please!!

Tony obtained 3 seperate money judgments in the High Court against Sonya,Sunita and Subra.The judgment against Sonya is for RM250,000 and was obtained in July 2006.The Judgment against Sunita is for RM350,000 and was obtained in June 2000.The Judgment against Subra was obtained in 2004 and is for  RM120,000. Assume it is now December 2009 and all three judgment debtors have not satisfied their respective Judgment debts.

Sonya is the owner of a piece of land. Sunita is a firefighter.She is also a song writer and received royalties from recording companies.Subra has RM50,000 in a savings account with NESCO Bank.He owes NESCO Bank RM10,000 under an overdraft account.Tony owes NESCO Bank RM40,000 under an overdraft account.

What steps, if any, may Tony take to enforce the aforesaid Judgments? May NESCO Bank set off the sums owed by  Subra and Tony if Tony proceeds against Subra's savings account?

Celebration is not synonymous with getting yourself drunk. Don't make a fool of yourself by indulging. Be moderate or better avoid it altogether.The urge to drink is especially strong on the eve of  most kind of celebrations.Don't give in the the craving  or  you may wake up to  find yourself with more decent Company than yourself!! Well its that time again. Remember- when you feel inebriated- limit your talk. Everyone knows you are just bullshitting. (You just dont realize it))When drunk, take a taxi back. And if a friend, maximum drunk offers you a free ride home- gently but firmly decline. You certainly dont want some distant relative to collect your corpse from a hospital mortuary the next morning.And a further caution. The food is great. Chicken and mutton kurma and " Murukku" and a whole lot of other colourful stuff. Eat your fill and celebrate. But remember when to stop.For Gods sake - stop eating when you are full. In simple English- dont be a pig when you are guest in someone else's home.A hint, here for morons who cant interpret this.When you start talking endlessly, about your achievements and academic qualifications. MY RETIREMENT HOME

Everone wishes to live a happy life with all the material possessions at their disposal but how many can really achieve this? Life only seems to favour some,but for many it is one endless struggle.Some just cope with the bare necessities in life.I have been a guest of the rich and also of the poor- very poor.The Orang asli villages deep in the jungle is just one example.This search for wealth and happiness...
